Default Anzac Easter?

ANZAC day is a the day many pause to consider the contribution of all of our boys/girls who would have, or did- put there lives on the line to protect Victims of Oppressive Regimes- Yet Peace and Home was in their Hearts

Just how we show "genuine" respect for them, or "honour" them, the rest of the year is yet another story-
The Base at Hobsonville would have been the last place many of these Boys touched their Homeland and it would not be unreasonable to expect that this Area was retained as a "Memorial Reserve" - However it is already being carved up and subdivided for money not unlike the Nations infrastructure built by the "Same Generation"...

Are we becoming a very shallow and pretentious people (like politicians) that we only display respect for or honour "that" generations contribution to the building of this Nation once a year?
While the rest of the year we chew away at the Heritage they provided so that a minority can get rich while enormous debts are all that the current generation has to offer to future generations.

Is there no "REAL" sense of shame?

This was on another Forum but I gave it a few tweaks

So you support the state sector vs the private sector. Why? And what would you propose to be nationalized today, if you had the power to do so?

Actually if you look closer I support neither- I do support RULE OF LAW- but am aware that without honour/accountability that soon becomes rule of might (power corrupts).

As such I wouldn't call it "Nationalizing" the investments of the Human public in the infrastructure which they paid for if it was taken right out of the Political Economy altogether.

The Government has displayed that it is incapable of displaying to the Human public the same considerations as any other investor in property [That is- The reasonable rights and expectations/interest of any investor in any property- usually defined in law].
But seeing that you asked a very reasonable question. I will have a shot- I don't need the power to do this just the numbers- vote with your power bills

First would be to focus upon Law Enforcement relating to that laundering of the "Human" Public's investments to the instruments of transfer or artificial identities known as corporations-
If you saw your stolen "Family Car" sitting down the road painted a different colour and decided to bring it home- it is no crime- and any debts the thieves or receivers incurred against that car are not your problem.

So I would return the "Power to the People" separating domestic usage ("Human Investors" that are "Reliant" upon electricity for everyday needs) from Business usage (artificial identities that use such investments to make money) I would not consult with Government but would ask the public (not necessarily businesses) to pay their power accounts into one account as a metered contribution towards maintenance and improvements- less gst of course-the money could just accumulate until the legal issues have been addressed with "OPEN ACCOUNTING thereafter"

As my interest is really more about "Human" rather than business- I would probably leave central government to decide how much to charge businesses to use the "Humans" investments- But publicly funded Hospitals, Schools, etc would get Electricity for free (without political consultation)
I would try to get that "Human" public's power Bill down to as close to free as possible (goal)- and ensure that the elderly have a reduced and capped cost for their power as a gesture of goodwill for their years of investment which we all now benefit from
This would ensure that less advantaged "Humans" have the same ability to use "Their Property" as others and more money would be freed up for other expenses- also reducing aspects of reliance upon benefits

To do this it would mean eliminating several corporations and the executive structures that are no better than an expensive bureaucracy in disguise- so eliminating a lot of extra costs to investors such as advertising, executive bonuses etc
I would replace it with a Maintenance Structure and tie that Maintenance Structure back to the Education Structure that there is no shortage of knowledgeable personal in the event of civil disasters etc but also to ensure that the scale of engineering and the skills associated with construction were not in need of imports.

OK that's just roughly but note the removal of the "Ownership of" and "Maintenance of" from Central Government control- Infrastructure requires more stability than transients to positions of trust can (provably) provide.
Has this Nation spent all of its Courage?

you start the thread talking about anzac day , and about those who went and fought for one empire ( the british ) , with the end result that another empire took over its mantle ( the american )

i assume this is an emotional call to nationalism

but the bulk of the thread is in fact not about anzac day , nor about those who fought for british rule

quite shameless how you attempt to link the 2 really

as for the actual content here , about new zealands governments doing what they are doing
they are simply acting in the interests of the current empire
and since the fall of the berlin wall , and most especially since 9/11 , new zealand is back in the empire

it would be very strange if they didnt act in the interests of the empire when able , and instead acted in the interests of the majority of the new zealand population

from the empires perspective , the elites of the empire should have just as much right to own new zealand , as the elites of new zealand
and simple common sense says that is exactly what will happen .......
