It's strange that a forum on NZ Politics should be silent a day after a pertinent budget delivery from the government of the day. Is this forum still active? if so, I would love to hear perspectives from members on the budget and its details, and how you think this impacts the lives of New Zealanders - especially average income families?

... What form of accountability is there to ensure politicians stick to their budgets?- easy answer is none at all so why bother considering it? (answering at election time doesn't cut it- these buggers can't manage even though the rake-in off GST has gone up) Nationals main interest is serving the wealthy- so their only interest in being re-elected is in Asset Sales- (good to pick up for those private portfolios) Who actually cares about the legalities associated with the creation of those business interests out of public investments in the Nations infrastructure?- surely making a quick buck today and passing debts off to future generations is far more ethical than sticking to conventional standards of conduct? If there was genuine interest in reducing borrowing then it would be sensible to remove the accommodation supplements which amounts to millions being paid out each week simply to ensure (themselves and their mates) get artificially high returns on their investments in rental properties- guess its win win for the banks on that one but hey we don't mind borrowing from offshore to supplement that now do we? We get a genuine fleecing but .... oh- what a bounteous harvest.... who was the twit that said Crime doesn't pay? . |

Well, essentially, as long as business are still running around untaxed, the system is shot, innit? I didn't hear anything that frightened me too much, but then the Nat's have been pretty good so far about keeping damn quiet about things people might want to kick up a fuss about. Leads one to want to say they've got our media in their pockets...

It could be that the Two parties politicians are "p" ing in Australian pockets and have already profited from the stripping of this Nations Autonomy and publicly funded infrastructure- How very fortunate? for Australia to be able to engineer opinion here as well though. Good to hear there was nothing frightening- Personally I find those "super-silly-arse" political smiles a little frightening around election year. . |

Glad you find it entertaining- although these are considerations that are reasonable when pondering a political budget in election year.
Your inclusion of the media as a consideration was appropriate as "engineered opinions" are likely to leed any debate relative to budgets That somebody has the "media in their pocket" therefore is (of course) a concern- I was trying to show you that this concern was part of a larger picture. Asset sales is a very important issue though as this has influenced budgets for some years now- so try looking deeper entertainment was not the intention. |
